How High Mast Lights Achieve Their Lifting & Lowering Function
High mast lights use a motorized winch and stainless steel wire rope system to raise and lower the lamp panel along the mast. When maintenance is required, the built-in electric hoist smoothly descends the luminaire ring to ground level, allowing technicians to service or replace lamps safely without climbing -- then hoists it back and locks it securely at operating height.
Engage the Winch System
Access the ground-level control cabinet and activate the electric winch via the dedicated control panel or wireless remote to begin the lowering sequence.
Controlled Descent
The high-tensile stainless steel wire rope pays out at a regulated pace of approximately 1.5 m/min, guiding the lamp panel ring steadily down the mast shaft.
Ground-Level Maintenance
With the lamp panel landed safely at ground level, crews can execute all maintenance tasks -- bulb replacement, optical cleaning, cable inspection -- without elevated access equipment.
Hoist & Secure
After all servicing is confirmed complete, the winch retracts the panel to full operating height. The built-in limit switch triggers automatically and the safety lock clicks into place.
